Key discussion topics included community branding—defining what BEA represents to our stakeholders—and evaluating preliminary interior and exterior design concepts. The design team is now consolidating the group’s feedback to refine the next iteration of the plans.
Our BEA middle school students visited Parker Oaks this month for a wonderful opportunity to connect with residents! Students spent time reading stories together, learning how to play SKIP-BO, sharing laughs, and getting to know one another. 📚🃏😊
These visits are about so much more than reading and playing games. They create meaningful connections, encourage kindness, and give students the opportunity to learn from and build relationships with members of our community.

This Make A Difference Day (October 24th), we’re shining our Community Spotlight on local high school students who prove that youth leadership builds stronger neighborhoods! From running blood drives and delivering groceries to mentoring younger kids in sports and the classroom, these young leaders are making a tangible impact every day.

Elaena: "It is important to do community service because it helps the people around you and gets you involved in the community!"

Our 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students attended the Science and Nature Conference through SCSC at Gustavus!
Students explored a variety of exciting sessions, including Grossology, Fingerprinting, Origami Science, Animals Nobody Loves, Leaf Mosaics, and Bridge Builders!
It was a day filled with fun, engaging, hands-on learning experiences that sparked curiosity, encouraged creativity, and gave students plenty of new knowledge and takeaways to bring back to the classroom!

Our 6th graders brought their Minnesota History lessons to life with a hands-on field trip to the Big Island Rendezvous!
From exploring the fur trade period (1650–1840) to experiencing early Frontier America, the Civil War era, and pioneer settlement, our students got to touch, see, and experience history up close. Nothing beats learning when you can step back in time! ⛺️🪓

Our Kindergarteners had an absolute blast visiting the Blue Earth Fire Station during Fire Safety Week! They got a tour of the station, checked out the engines, and learned all about fire safety directly from our local heroes.

We’re giving a big shoutout to our bus drivers who help get our Bucs where they need to go every day! But bus safety is a team effort, and we all have a part to play. 🙌
A little reminder to drivers to slow down, pay attention, and help keep our Bucs safe! Whether you’re driving near a school bus, sharing the road, or waiting for the bus, we all play a part in getting students to and from school safely.
🚌 School Bus Safety Tips for Students:
▪️Be on time! Arrive at your bus stop a few minutes early.
▪️Stay back! Wait at least 5 giant steps away from the curb while waiting for the bus.
▪️Watch and listen! Pay attention to your bus driver and follow their directions.
▪️Cross safely! If you need to cross the road, wait for your driver’s signal, look both ways, and cross at least 10 feet in front of the bus so the driver can see you.
▪️Stay seated! Keep hands, feet, and belongings to yourself while the bus is moving.
▪️Keep the aisle clear! Backpacks and other belongings should stay out of the walkway.
Let’s work together to make sure every Buc gets to school and home safely each day! ❤️💛

We are SO excited to announce that our student-run coffee shop will officially be up and running a couple days a week at the K7 building.
This is such a fun opportunity for our LINKS students to practice real-world work and functional life skills while working together as a team. Students will be practicing social skills, communication, teamwork, money/counting skills, taking orders, delivering drinks, restocking inventory, following directions, and being responsible employees.
We are also excited to have our older LINKS students practice their leadership skills by mentoring our STARS friends!

The state recently released the 2026 MCA scores, and we have some serious highlights to brag about! Join us in recognizing the incredible hard work of our students, teachers, and staff:
K–5 Literacy & Reading
Our K–5 team’s intense READ Act training over the last few years is paying off in a huge way! BEA Elementary jumped ahead of the state with 49.2% proficiency (vs. state 48.6%)! (Note: Since this was a new reading test, we don’t have past year comparisons, but starting above the state average is a massive victory!)
Equally exciting news: BEA Elementary outpaced several of our neighboring districts! A huge shoutout to USC for setting the bar high with their amazing scores—challenge accepted, friends! 👏 score one for local education!"
3rd Grade Math 📚
WOW! What an outcome! 🤩 Our 3rd graders crushed it with 72.1% proficiency compared to the state’s 57.9%!
10th Grade Science 🔬
Our high schoolers blew past the state benchmark with 55.4% proficiency compared to Minnesota’s 36.6%! Way to go!
District-Wide Growth
Overall, our district increased math proficiency by 3.6% and science by 8.7%!

Today, our Blue Earth Area High School students had the opportunity to visit Minnesota West’s Jackson campus for the MN West Explore Event! Students explored career and technical education programs, including Automotive, Cosmetology, Electrician, Powerline Technology, and Welding.
These hands-on experiences help students discover their interests, explore career possibilities, and think about their futures after high school.
