By analyzing both primary and secondary sources, students explored multiple perspectives of this historical event. After gathering their evidence, they engaged in civil discussions to weigh the arguments on both sides.
The goal? To move beyond the textbook and develop their own evidence-based opinions. We are so proud of the way these students are practicing the vital skill of looking at all sides of an argument before drawing a conclusion. Way to go, historians! #CriticalThinking #FutureLeaders #HistoryInAction"

Where did we "travel" to today for our Holidays Around the World unit? The UK! We learned that apple cider is a popular holiday drink there, and the students were determined to find out what it tastes like.
Friday was the big tasting day! Most of the class absolutely loved trying apple cider for the first time. 🍎

✨ Be-A-Quest was full of curiosity and creativity today! ✨
We brought out the Makey Makeys & Little Bits… and then I stepped back. No direct instruction—just free play and exploration.
It was amazing to watch students discover on their own how circuits work. They found that gum wrappers, fruit and pencil graphite are conductors, and experimented with all sorts of everyday objects to turn into controllers! Layla N. & Grace P. created a phone charger & Jacob H. & Max H created a keyboard for a digital piano! 🍌✏️⚡
This open-ended approach lets them problem-solve, test ideas, and celebrate those “aha!” moments that come from hands-on discovery.
Proud of my Be-A-Quest crew for diving in, thinking like engineers, and learning through exploration today! 💡🔧

Hands-on learning at its best! Mrs. Volz's Plant & Animal Science students rolled up their sleeves for dissection labs this week. They were fully engaged as they explored how plant and animal structures help organisms survive and thrive. Proud of their curiosity and hard work!

Students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade worked together to collect food and toys for our local food shelf and toy drive. Their kindness, generosity, and community spirit truly shine this season.
We are incredibly proud to share that our students collected an amazing 2,050 items! 💙💛
Thank you to our BEA families for supporting this wonderful cause—your contributions make a real difference in our community.
BUC Pride on full display! 🦅

Here are a few of the comments below to highlight them.
Mrs. Sickler:
⭐️Kim shows her dedication in such profound ways, I can hardly keep track. If a teacher has a question, she will not only answer that question, but come to you in person and ensure that everything is covered. She'll even throw together some resources for you! She is creative in her lessons with her students, she works hard at building individual relationships with them, she goes above and beyond to work with parents, and make sure her class's needs are covered. She's inventive, and resourceful. She's an amazing team player and is that type of person to make everyone feel not only involved, but valued. She is thoughtful and professional with teachers, staff, and families alike. She makes sure that we, as teachers, are taking care of ourselves and knows our rights and responsibilities as professionals and as human beings. She's an incredible PLC leader of leaders. Kim acts with selflessness, compassion, and understanding to everyone she meets. She truly wants Blue Earth Area to not only be the best place for educators, but for students and families. She sees potential in everyone and everything, and makes that potential become a reality.
Mrs. Allard:
⭐️Always willing to go above and beyond!
⭐️She is always willing to help out no matter what! She is very supportive and there for staff! If you have an idea she is always willing to listen!
⭐️She is always willing to help anyone who needs it. She is an amazing teacher who always takes the time to understand the kids and their learning needs. She always makes learning fun according to my own kid !

One of the focuses in this discussion has been around copper. As we've been discussing how metals form electrically charged species through chemical reactions, we tried making our own homemade batteries out of pennies, cardboard, vinegar, and tin foil.
After an initial fail (typical of science), we did some research, proposed alternative ideas, and had success in creating enough current to power a small light bulb! Students were at the center of the engineering and iterative design process that makes science so intriguing and rewarding. Props to the whole class for hard work and persistence!
