Bus Rider of the Week

Bus Rider of the Week Program Success!

The Blue Earth Area Transportation Department would like to congratulate all of the students who earned a Bus Rider of the Week Mini Blizzard coupon this year!

The Bus Rider of the Week program has been a tremendous success, creating excitement among students while reinforcing the importance of safe and responsible behavior on our school buses. We have seen students working hard to follow bus expectations, show kindness to others, and help make the ride to and from school a positive experience.

A special thank you goes to Dairy Queen for generously supporting this program by providing Mini Blizzard coupons for our student winners. Their partnership helped make this recognition program even more meaningful and rewarding for our students.

FAQ

Stop arm camera

Blue Earth Area School Buses have installed Stop Arm Cameras on their school buses, thanks to the grant we received from the State of MN / Office of Transportation.

Stop or Pay the Price!

  • State law requires all vehicles to stop for school buses when flashing lights are activated and stop arm is extended.

  • Drivers who violate the law face a $500.00 fine.

  • Drives can face criminal charges for passing a school bus on the right, passing when a child is outside of the bus, or injuring or killing a child.

Bus Rules

Parents: Reduce your stress and concern about your children traveling to and from school. Talk to them about a few basic school bus rules-of-the-road.

  • Arrive early.

  • Remain on the sidewalk/curb.

  • Respect someone else's property.

  • Refrain from horseplay.

  • Load/unload safely using the school bus handrail.

  • Sit quickly, remain in your seat, share your seat and speak quietly with others.

  • Follow your bus driver's directions.

  • Be prepared for an emergency.
