Blue Earth Area is proud to announce that Sara Frederickson (aka Ms. Fred) is student teaching as a media specialist with Jennifer Berkner. Ms. Fred is a graduate of Blue Earth Area and has a Bachelor of Science degree from Minnesota State University- Mankato in Geography and has been working on a graduate degree in the School Library and Information Science program. She has previously worked at Barnes and Noble and Elmore Academy before coming to work in the K7 media center as a paraprofessional. 

Ms. Fred comes from a family of teachers with her mom, dad, brother, and sister-in-law all involved in education. She loves spending time with her two nieces, Marley and Mabel, and taking care of her Olde English Bulldog named Gary (you can follow Gary’s adventures on Instagram @gary_fred_oeb).

Ms. Fred says that she loves helping students find books that interest them and recommending books they may not have thought to read . . . especially when the students end up really enjoying them.  Her favorite quote from Kylene Beers is “They will need you to put the right books in their hands, books in which they can lose themselves and books in which they can find themselves.” Many students have benefitted from Ms. Fred’s love of reading and she is excited to plan some reading incentives and activities for them.
