It’s here! The week that students love and High School Principals usually dread….Homecoming! As a former Principal, this week was usually one that was met with dread since I knew it meant very little sleep and lots of worry over students making good choices. As a Superintendent, it’s my favorite week of the entire school year. The incredible feeling of such pride as I see the maroon and gold from head to toe on our littlest students to our seniors, the brave staff who participate in the dress up days, and families and community members who line the streets for our Homecoming parade to welcome back our students as they kick off another school year. Yes, it’s my favorite week of the year! And this year, it feels a little different from the last two years; almost…normal. Which, given the last two and a half years, I can say I welcome with open arms and can’t wait to savor every moment of this “normal” week.
This year the school has some lofty goals of increasing engagement with our families and communities, so we certainly hope that everyone comes out to help us celebrate our students' return to school!

We sincerely hope that our jam-packed week of activities will bring out everyone to not only come and cheer on our student athletes, but celebrate with all of our student body, staff, and parents that we are once again able to experience the normalness of all that Homecoming week has to offer. It wasn’t all too long ago that we were unable to fully experience the joy that Homecoming week brings to all schools.
To help us truly celebrate that we can once again experience these festivities, we’d like to invite businesses/employees, parents, and community members to help us celebrate by participating in our dress up days! Simply dress up as one of our above days (i.e. on Monday, either dress up in your PJ’s or Gray Outfit, Tuesday dress up as Country or Country Club, etc.), take a photo each day, and post to Blue Earth Area ISD 2860’s Facebook page with the hashtag #BEAHoco2022! Every photo will be entered into a drawing for free entry into an activity of your choice, free concessions items, or Buc apparel!
2022….let’s make this our best year yet, and celebrate that we are once again home!
